Summary:
The Work-Based Learning Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing work-based learning programs for Seaford High School CTE students.
This role bridges the gap between classroom education and real-world workplace experience by facilitating opportunities for students or participants to gain practical skills and knowledge through internships, apprenticeships, co-op programs, or other work-based learning initiatives.
Key
Responsibilities:
1.
Program Development:
- Develop and maintain work-based learning programs in alignment with the organization's goals and curriculum.
- Collaborate with educators, employers, and industry partners to design program structures that meet the needs of students or participants.
2.
Partnership Building:
- Establish and nurture relationships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations to create work-based learning opportunities.
- Identify potential employers and secure partnerships for internships, apprenticeships, and other experiential learning opportunities.
3.
Student/Participant Support:
- Assist students or participants in identifying and securing work-based learning placements.
- Provide guidance and counseling to ensure a successful transition from the classroom to the workplace.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of participants throughout their work-based learning experience.
4.
Curriculum Integration:
- Collaborate with educators to integrate work-based learning experiences into the academic curriculum.
- Ensure that learning objectives align with industry standards and educational outcomes.
5.
Program Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of work-based learning placements, including contracts, evaluations, and assessments.
- Track program outcomes and assess the effectiveness of work-based learning initiatives.
6.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with relevant labor laws, safety regulations, and educational standards.
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and accreditation bodies.
7.
Career Development:
- Provide career guidance and counseling to help students or participants make informed decisions about their future careers.
- Organize workshops, seminars, or events related to career development and job readiness.
8.
Communication:
- Facilitate communication between students, employers, educators, and parents or guardians.
- Act as a liaison to address any issues or concerns that may arise during work-based learning placements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, business, or a related field.
- Experience in education, workforce development, or career counseling.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local industries and employment trends.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Understanding of educational curriculum development.
- Familiarity with labor laws and regulations.

Qualifications:
Teacher Certification - Delaware Code Title 14 Section 1500 NOTE:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All new state employees will be required to participate in the State of Delaware's Direct Deposit system.
With direct deposit, wage and salary payments are deposited in the employee's bank account via electronic funds transfer.
All final candidates for employment must have a satisfactory criminal background check before being placed on contract/payroll as per State of Delaware regulations.
Candidates must call the Delaware State Police at (800) 464-4357 to make an appointment.
The cost of the criminal background check is $65 (expense borne by the prospective employee).
Final candidates must also receive a satisfactory child protection registry check.
Final candidates must also produce documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
The State of Delaware has initiated a lag pay policy which means that new employees will receive the first paycheck at the end of the second pay period of work.
