Overview
Position: Caseworker
Department: The Salvation Army, Family Services Sussex Highway, Seaford, DE
Availability of Position: July 2017
Schedule: Part-Time; 25 hours per week; 9:00 am to 2:00 pm; Monday-Friday
Reporting Relationship: Office Manager
Salary and Grade: $11.40 per hour; 72 Non-Exempt
Position Overview:
The caseworker is responsible for all assigned aspects of social services including directing and/or referring clients; to oversee all operations of the food pantry including scheduling and overseeing volunteers.
Responsibilities
Job Duties:
Handles all switchboard and telephone responsibilities
Receives all clients for social service assistance
Handles all in-person and telephone inquiries and contacts, making appropriate referrals
Maintain food pantry and prepare food bags with assistance of other staff and volunteers
Schedule and oversee volunteers working with the food pantry
Handle assigned aspects of social services (including but not limited to intake, referrals, determining need, interviews, statistics, and producing reports)
Assists office manager with other tasks or responsibilities as needed, requested or required
Handles other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Corps Officer.
Qualifications
Must possess a high school diploma or GED and have experience with a front desk/reception area would be helpful. Must have good verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate well with a broad variety of constituents including clients, leadership, and co-workers. Must have the ability to use general office machines and be computer literate. Bilingual (English and Spanish) ability is a plus in both verbal and written communication. Must possess the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Candidate must be able to obtain clearance required by the Joseph R. Biden III and the Child Protection Act. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
